Halloween Fold Out Card

I saw a friend of mine make a card using this method (1 piece of 12x12 cardstock) and thought it was a cool idea, so this is my take on Angela Beavers idea. I LOVE the Alice Collections and this one is the Graphic45 Hallowe'en in Wonderland Collection. I did some fussy cutting and used portions of the cover even!! :-)  Can't stand to waste any. This card folds out into 4 sections....and I left a section inside to place writing or even a photo. On the front I have fussy cut and popped up the elements. I used some ribbon that I inked to use for the closure. The pattern I thought went perfectly.

Opening the card to the first section, again, I fussy cut elements and characters from the cover of the collection and elevated some of it to add more interest.

Opening the card completely, shows the four panels. I wanted to be sure to leave a panel for writing on or adding a pic and or both. I did pop dot a tiny sticker on the bottom right though. Looks like the Queen of Hearts is talking about that panel as she points to it!! LOL She doesn't scare Alice though as she looks on.

Flipping the fold out card over to show the back panels. There would be plenty of space on these panels if you would like to add a photo or even more sentiments or journaling.

A quick and easy project for sure. Wouldn't this be a great idea to use in a mini album or folio? Small footprint but adds extra space. I love when that option is used.

Easel Tag

What a fun quick project! I made this for a swap I was in. I love the Alice Collections and this swap was geared to exactly that: Alice Tag Swap. I created an easel tag so it would be able to stand freely if my partner so desired. I love using dimensional embellishments, so adding the clock hands and Alice Book Charm worked out perfectly. I pop dotted Alice and gave her shoes some glossy accents along with the Curiouser & curiouser embellishment on the flip up top.

Lifting the flap at the top you will find the Chesire Cat grinning as he so famously does. He is hidden under that flap nicely however until exposed. I gave his eyes some glossy accents as well so they would stand out. What a fun and easy project to do!

The overall tag measures:  3 1/2 x 7

A New One On Me

I have never really done mixed media, so when I had a chance to do a small mixed media swap..... I thought what the heck. So, I read the instructions for this small mixed media swap and gathered my things. We were to make 2 mixed media pieces the same....and only do the base....so no coloring...no decorating...nothing just the base of the piece. I chose to do (2) 5x7 canvases and got to work with my gesso and modeling paste. This is what I came up with: 

I made 2 of the above and sent one to my partner. She made the one below and sent to me: So, now we both have 1 each of each others bases. We were to get busy and decorate however we saw fit and interpreted them. 

This is how I finished her base..... I saw a 'flag' right away and went off that adding vintage items.

This is how I finished my base piece I sent to her. I used the keys for flower stems and added some stems from the artificial flowers in the center of the keys. Ink.....washes.....splattering....and finished. 

It was a different thing for me to do, as I never really have done much with mixed media, but, hey, I think I could jump more in to this. We shall see....... stay tuned and check back often. 

SUMMER IS ALMOST OVER

I'm sure everyone has been quite busy with summer plans, but as it's winding down, it's time to get back in the swing of things and 

CREATE!!!!

 Super Large Never Ending Card

I love making the 'Never Ending Cards', they are just fun to make and fun to play with. So much you can do with them to make them different each and every time. I made this one for a dear and special friend. I will be mailing it out to her tomorrow morning. It's a big one, 8 1/2 X 11. I wanted to see how it would work out and I am perfectly happy with it. Hmmmm...will have to try with the 12 X 12 cardstock next. :-)

This is the 'front' of the card. I added the transparent butterfly and stamped a heartfelt saying for the butterfly to carry along.

Flip open and this is the next areas you see. I added another pretty transparent butterfly and a streaming message.

Such a fun fun little (well this one isn't so small) project that is easy to do and just plain fun to fool with.

Like Bees to Honey 

I had to include my bees in this cover shot, I mean they are famous right....you've heard of the "Bee'tles"....well here they are!!!

This project was indeed a fun and easy one, as the collection: Like Bees to Honey dictated what should be made. This is a brand new collection from a brand new designer: Kimmy Murray. I have to say, I used every single piece in this collection and must also say, the quality of this paper/cardstock far exceeded my expectations. It is truly amazing. The design work and graphics are spot on and the colors are vibrant and flow so seamlessly, a true pleasure to work with.

This mini with a twist is 8 1/2 X 9 with a rounded top spine. The magnetic closure on the bottom is also 'rounded' to carry through the theme and I thought worked well with this 'theme'. I added a set of sheer wings to the cover and an antique looking metal bee on the closure. I used cream cardstock as the base with some burnt orange (for lack of the exact color name) cardstock and sepia ink by Prima Color Philosophy throughout. I like to ink my projects as it gives me a finished feel.

I used that perfectly colored cardstock (I am calling it burnt orange) and scored it every 1/4" starting at 1/2" and ending then with 1/2". That allowed 1/2" to attach to the front and back covers securely. I thought the rounded spine also flowed better with the album theme...at least it did to me. :-) Inking again lightly on the score lines and heavier on the edges.

Opening the magnetic closure, I applied a cut out of a beehive to go over the magnet and a flower I fussy cut to cover that magnet (I forgot to add the magnet before putting on the pattern paper...so I adlibbed)

Opening the album, the inside of the front cover and it being a top bound album allowed for a cut apart to be used to hold a booklet. I used another pair of sheer wings to add some depth to the page. The colors in this collection are just so soothing and flow so easily.

Page 1. I added a couple bee charms to give some dimension, got them at Hobby Lobby. One on the upper right is a solid golden one and the lower left bee is adorned in jewels...she must be the queen bee I guess...see the others heading to her. They know she has to be the one if she is wearing 'jewels'.

Yes, I do believe that is the 'queen bee'.

Page 1 with the large side pocket and the large tag exposed. I used the same cream cardstock and burnt orange cardstock to highlight the large tag. Finger notches were punched in to the front of the pocket page for easy access to the tag.

A nice large tag that could of course host a large picture or several smaller ones plus a lot of journaling.

Pages 2 & 3 I used brown narrow ribbon as pulls on the tags to stay within the color scheme.

Page 2. Love the chicken wire pattern. Such a fun collection. Love that cut a part as well.... and I agree with the saying! ;-)

Page 5. This page has the cool different typed of bees in the graphics. This has a left large pocket with a large side pull tag rather than a right side.

Page 6. This is such a beautiful design. I love the coloring with the beautiful flowers and the muted under tones....stunning!

Page 8. I used more of the cut a parts for tag holders and of course made more tags. I like to make sure there is plenty of spaces for photos and journaling. Beautiful designs in this collection.

Olive's Princess Book

What a fun fun project to do for this sweet grandbaby of mine!! Olive had a 'Princess Day' and had a ball. I had made her an autograph book (I think I have a pic of it) and she made sure she got all the princesses autographs and a couple of the prince's also. I made this book to hold her autograph book as well as the photos her momma took of her with the princesses. There is a ton of space to journal about that day and about how she liked each princess. I hope this will be a keepsake for her and someday when she's older it will bring a smile to her sweet face. 

Here's her autograph book I made her...the front and back. I used my Cricut to do the graphics on the book. 

Olive's favorite color is purple so, I had to make sure I used that color throughout the book of course.

Inside the front cover I added an autograph book box with a magnetic closure to hold that precious autograph book with all those princesses autographs she got. There is a small little pocket above the box with a pull out tag that I wrote a little something on for her and the date. The rest of the pages are all pictures with pockets holding 3 different sized tags for extra pics or journaling about that particular princess and Olive. Each page also has a large pull out tag inside with a scalloped pull.

The inside cover has the autograph book holder. It has a magnetic closure to keep it in place securely.

Page 1. All of the pages have tags to use for journaling or extra photos as the picture pocket has ample space to hold several. 

All of the pages have the extra large pull out tag/photo mat to house those larger 5x7 pics or even 8x10 without much cropping. (excuse the flash of light across the pics)
